After the whole car had been clayed including the alloys and the edge of wheel arches, the vehicle was then rinsed again ready for its clean.

The Cayman was cleaned using the two bucket method and the choice of shampoo was the trusty and reliable Autoglym Bodywork & Conditioner Shampoo. This is a low foam neutral concentrate and it cleans and imparts a glossy water-repellent finish. The vehicle was then dried with a clean microfibre drying towel.

The next stage (although not a correction detail), was to measure the thickness of the paint all over. This process was completed just for my peace of mind, to ascertain if major bodywork had been carried out in the past. Nothing major to report, except that the rear nearside wing had possibly been re-sprayed in the early days of ownership, as this gave a very slight increased reading.

After reading the paint thickness, it was onto the next stage of the detail, the polishing stage. I decided to use Autoglym Radiant Wax Polish, as in my opinion, is a very underrated polish and due to the quality of the Arctic Silver metallic, works well on this type of paint. The polish was applied to the whole vehicle and left to cure for approximately 45 minutes. Whilst the polish was 'curing', the plastics were re-dressed using AG Plastic Conditioner. The polish was then buffed off to produce a lovely shine.

Prior to the wax being applied, the whole vehicle was given a pre-wax cleanse using the Swissvax Cleaner Fluid, essential to any pre-wax being applied.

For the LSP (Last Stage Product), the choice of wax was Swissvax Zuffenhausen. Zuffenhausen wax has been specifically developed for the two-component coatings on modern Porsche vehicles and has a high concentration of ultra pure Brazilian grade one carnauba wax (over 40% by volume). The wax was applied and left for approximately 30 minutes prior to being buffed off with a clean microfibre cloth. This procedure was repeated again to give the vehicle a lovely depth and gloss to the paintwork.

The Porsche Cayman was then rolled back to await the return of its owner.

PORSCHE CAYMAN

The car arrived early Monday morning and after a close inspection, it had the typical build up of road grime and contaminants. General build up of tar and very rough bodywork, probably tree sap and slight bird markings.

The purpose of the detail was protect the vehicle and to provide the client with a good foundation to work from. So it was given a comprehensive detail to prepare the vehicle ready for its treatment.

First up the Cayman was pre-soaked with a citrus degreaser, then rinsed. The Porsche was then given a thorough clay bar to remove any embedded contaminants. This process took almost 1 hour and the results were quite surprising for a nearly new car.
